Janet is a freelance harpist and clarsach player based in Edinburgh, available for weddings and other events around mainland Scotland.
She began learning the clarsach as a school pupil in Aberdeen and was taught by well known performer and teacher, Anne Macdearmid.
Progressing on to the harp, Janet continued studies with Sanchia Pielou, harp teacher at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. After completing an M.A Hons degree in Music at Aberdeen University, Janet studied harp as a post graduate student with Edward Witsenburg at the Royal Conservatory of Music, the Hague, Holland.
In past years Janet has undertaken professional orchestral work and performed at various hotels and stately homes throughout Scotland including Gleneagles Hotel and Dalhousie Castle.
Nowadays, Janet prefers to concentrate on weddings and family and business functions. Please feel free to get in touch to discuss your needs.
